Since 1979, I have been working in the field of multi-media and
environmental installations. About ten years ago, my hands developed excruciating pain whenever I used them to do my
work. I soon realized that I could no longer pursue my career in sculpture. It was this unfortunate event which
enabled me to seek new possibilities to continue to work as an artist. I started to create visual images using my recently
perfcted technique of digital "filming" and non-linear desk top editing (Final Cut Pro).
DOUBLE EXPOSURE is my first film. I tell my story through
a collection of abstract video landscapes interwoven with cinema-verite footage. The documentary represents both past
memories (in the form of super-imosed images) and present realities. In the documentary, I present the conflicts and
contradictions from the point of view of a woman with two cultures: Chinese and American.
