Kit-Yin Snyder – Director/ Producer/Writer

Prior to working on her documentary projects, Kit-Yin Snyder was working in the field of environmental art for over twenty years. Born in Guangzhou (Canton), China, she was educated in China and the United States.

Her site-specific installations were exhibited in alternative sites such as P.S. 1, Artpark, Snug Harbor, Bryant Park in New York, Sala Uno in Italy, Kunstraum in Germany as well as the Hudson River Museum, the Bronx Museum and the Whitney Museum at Philip Morris.

Ms. Snyder received numerous grants for her work in environmental sculpture which include: 3 National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for 1980, 1982, and 1986, 2 New York Foundation of Arts (NYFA) fellowships for 1986 and 1991 and 2 New York State Council of Art (NYSCA) for l985 and 1990. 1986- “Bessie” award for set design.

Her public award winning commissions include MARGARET MITCHELL SQUARE in Atlanta, and JUSTICE in New York City (collaborated with Richard Haas).

In 2002, Ms Snyder received grants from the Jerome Foundation and the New York Council on the Arts for her documentary: DOUBLE EXPOSURE.

DOUBLE EXPOSURE (28 minutes) was presented at the 2nd Tribeca Film Festival in New York in 2003 and the 26th international Asian American Film Festival, also in New York.

Other screenings included: Independent Lens/PBS in the USA in 2004 and in 2003 by RAI SAT-ART in Italy.
